Privacy Policy

Overview

Screen Awake (“we”, “this site”) is a free browser utility that helps keep your display awake. This policy explains what the site does on your device, what optional advertising/analytics may do, and how you can control non-essential cookies and scripts.

Core tool (no account)

The keep-awake feature runs entirely in your browser. We do not require an account.

• Screen Wake Lock API — with your gesture (button click), the browser may request that the screen stay on while this tab is visible. The lock is released when you stop the tool or hide the tab.
• Fallback media — if Wake Lock is unavailable, a tiny muted looping video or canvas activity may run locally to discourage sleep. This stays on your device.
• Session notes & theme — optional notes and light/dark preference are stored in localStorage on your device only.

We do not upload your notes or wake-session contents to our servers. This static site has no application backend for the core tool.

Cookies, consent & advertising

Essential operation of the tool does not require advertising cookies. If advertising is enabled on the live site, we ask for consent before loading non-essential ad scripts (for example Google AdSense).

• Accept — may load advertising scripts that set cookies or use device identifiers to show and measure ads (including personalized ads where permitted).
• Reject — ad network scripts are not loaded; the keep-awake tool still works.
• Your choice is remembered in localStorage (sat-consent). Clear site data or use the consent controls on the home page to change it.

Ad partners (when enabled) may collect technical data such as IP address, user agent, cookie IDs, and page URL under their own policies—for Google, see Google Privacy Policy and AdSense help.

Analytics (optional)

If we add analytics later (for example privacy-oriented analytics or GA4), we will load it only in line with this policy and, where required, only after consent. Analytics help us understand aggregate usage (page views, countries), not the content of your session notes.

GDPR / UK GDPR & CCPA-style rights

If you are in the EEA/UK, non-essential cookies/scripts should only run after you opt in. You can reject non-essential processing via the banner and still use the tool.

If you are a California resident, you may have rights to know, delete, or opt out of certain “sale”/“sharing” of personal information. We do not sell your notes. Advertising partners may process identifiers for ads; rejecting non-essential consent is the practical opt-out on this static site. For requests related to partner data, use that partner’s tools as well (for example Google’s ad settings).

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site or advertising setup changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
