Leave that window visible on a second monitor — Wake Lock holds while you work elsewhere.

How it works

Four quick steps to keep screen awake and prevent computer sleep.

  1. Open Screen Awake in Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox (https or localhost — Wake Lock needs a secure context).
  2. Click Keep Awake, or pick a preset: Recipe · 20m, Focus · 45m, Meeting · 60m, or Kiosk · until stop.
  3. Leave a window visible — this tab, or the always-on mini window on a second monitor so the lock can hold while you work elsewhere.
  4. Stop when done — tap Keep Awake again, or let auto-off countdown end the session.

Keep Screen Awake Online — Free Tool to Prevent Computer Sleep

Looking for a fast way to keep screen awake without installing software? This free stay awake online tool stops your display from dimming, sleeping, or locking while you read, present, monitor dashboards, or follow long tutorials. One click enables a reliable prevent computer sleep session in your current browser tab—no extensions, no downloads, and no account required.

Under the hood, Screen Awake prefers the modern HTML5 Screen Wake Lock API, the browser-standard way to request that the device keep its screen on. When Wake Lock is unavailable—older browsers, restrictive environments, or temporary API failures—the engine switches to a robust fallback: a tiny, silent, looping video plus a lightweight canvas refresh loop. Together, these approaches cover the vast majority of desktop and mobile browsers that people use every day.

Visibility matters. Browsers intentionally release wake locks when you leave a tab. This tool listens for visibilitychange events and automatically re-acquires the lock when you return, so your keep screen awake session resumes without hunting for the button again. A live timer shows how long the screen has stayed awake. One-tap presets (Recipe, Focus, Meeting, Kiosk) and an optional auto-off countdown make timed sessions easy. Need the main tab free? Open the always-on mini window on a second monitor so Wake Lock holds while you work elsewhere.

Whether you need to prevent computer sleep during a kitchen recipe, keep a kiosk dashboard visible, or simply stop a laptop from locking mid-meeting notes, this lightweight page is built to be scannable, fast, and privacy-friendly. Your notes stay local. No tracking scripts are required for the core wake engine. Pair the main control with the dead-pixel color test or session notes whenever you want a bit more utility while the screen stays on. See how it works or the FAQ for browser tips.

Start with the Keep Awake button above, leave this tab (or mini window) visible, and let the stay awake online tool handle the rest. When you are done, tap again to release the lock and return your device to normal power-saving behavior.

FAQ

Yes. Modern Chrome on Android and recent Safari on iOS support the Screen Wake Lock API. Older mobile browsers fall back to the silent video method. Keep this tab in the foreground for best results.

Keeping the screen on always uses more power than sleep. The tool itself is tiny, but the display is the costly part. Use auto-off countdown and disable Keep Awake when finished.

No. Wake Lock prevents screen sleep, not Teams presence. Teams marks you Away based on idle activity inside Teams. Another website cannot fake input into Teams due to browser security. Use Teams status overrides, the desktop client, or a Teams-specific extension.

No. This prevent-computer-sleep utility runs entirely in the browser. Click Keep Awake once and leave the tab open.

The browser releases the wake lock while the page is hidden. When you return, this tool automatically re-acquires it if Keep Awake is still enabled. Tip: use Open in its own window and leave the mini player visible on a second monitor.
